Akwero Evalyn

My names are Akwero Evalyn, an Acholi by tribe born in the war affected zone Gulu and a mother of three children who is also a member of Life in Africa Kampala Uganda. If it was not the war, perhaps I would not know what life in Africa is all about! unfortunately or fortunately the twenty years old Joseph Konys' war in Northern Uganda that has killed and displaced thousands of people, find myself among the few displaced people now living in Acholi quarters Kampala.

Living in this displaced quarters Kampala, life was not simple untill I came across life in Africa while walking with my small stock of ripe bananas in the basket balancing it on my head with a baby on the back to sell so that to see how I could make the end meet. When I joined Life in Africa, trully I found honey and milk flowing! I can't tell the difference between my situation before I joined LIA with that of the isrealites while in Eggypt to the time when they reached canan.

More than I can say, getting one thousand shiling in a day would be a miracle and yet taking children to school to me would be a luxury. Thanks to the LIA founder (KIRABO) that am now working at LIA earning what is enough to help my children go to school and also feed better than before. The sorrow of war is now begining to disappear in my mind because of community interactions and many other activities at the WE center Kampala!

With what Life in Africa has done, giving even the unexpected me to learn computer, then I my next step is to be cooperative and productive so I may utilise this chance with others
