Grace F. Akello

I am called Grace F. Akello, and have been a member of Life in Africa since August 2005. Though am not a parmanent resident of the Acholi quarters, I have been part of them since I came to Kampala, because I had to survive on the stone quarry which was my only source of life. This however was not an easy job, I had to move daily on foot to the quarters , which is about three kilometres away, by the time I reach there, am alreday exhauted that I couldn't do much. So all that involved money was a seriuos problem. my landlord was almost throwing me out, all my eight children were no longer able to go to school, and most days we would go without food.

Since I became a member of Life in Africa, I felt so relieved, I can now pay my rent in time, no more quarrells with the landlord, children now eat to their fullest. The only problem that is still biting is the school fees ,especially for the big girls.

I must really give my most sincere thanks to the Life in Africa community who have completely changed my life. On top of all these, I have met so many new friends, and I have started learning new crafts, I am also in the adult literacy class, something that I have longed for , my entire lifetime, soon I will be an English speaker and nobody will back bite me.

I would wish to join hands with fellow members to see that Life in Africa grows to its heights.
