Irene Labong

Iam called Irene labong I live in Kireka village, a displaced zone in Kampala where a similar tribe Acholi is staying because of the wars in our town Gulu, am a mother of four children whom I take care of together with my husband. Am a member of Life in Africa and ever since I joined, am moving in a very positive direction of development.

Iam working at Life in Africa with the invisible children bracelet project as a bracelet maker and this helps me so much to support the family than ever before. Its really better if I view the nature of job I was doing in stone quarry which is so risky for a weaker sex to do but I did because it was the only alternative and job available for me on the large piece of land given to us by the prominent king of Baganda.

I would also like to appreciate the roles played by Life in Africa community WE center Kampala for the tireless work done to make every vision a realty, in transforming the people and its intervention to help the children of northern Uganda and make them look like any other children of the world. To mention the role of organizing play cloths and shoes, opening a WE’ center Gulu are few to mention.

As members its our tasks to keep moving so that we may over come our challenges and start living a happy life like the rest because we have all the gifts of nature like they do but all we need is good relationship with our friends both locally and internationally. May God still be with our gift mum and our international friends who are always there to share with us our problems?
